From the moment he was born, everyone knew that he was going to be the greatest clan leader of the century. Everyone knew that he was to be a rival match for Madara. The royal family of the Uchiha’s had their jewel and they named him ‘Itachi’. But this boy was unlike all the other great clan leaders of the Uchiha’s time. He was stoic and quiet. Mikoto had thought he was deaf or blind, somehow hindered physically when she had seen him countless times sitting in the garden, playing with the koi. To say that Itachi was normal in his childhood was to say that pigs really could fly.
The early childhood of Uchiha Itachi was spent in the long countless hours in the sunlight and in the rain. Before he could walk properly (this of course, was before the age of two) Itachi rarely moved from one place to another. And after he could walk, his mannerisms did not change. He was reading his father’s books in the master bedroom by the age of five, pouring through the pages of mystery and self-help books on how to be successful. (Fugaku never needed those books. Nevertheless, he was given them from time to time.) Mikoto had heard her son speak when Itachi was trying to pronounce the word ‘exhilarating’ and it had only taken the ‘young genius’ (as they called him such names) three tries before he got it in the sentence. But Fugaku had stolen Itachi’s childhood away when he had pre-enrolled him into school. In preparation, Fugaku had told Itachi many times about the history about the clan, which Itachi had listened, but only regretfully so. (The Uchiha clan was a living tragedy, really.)
School had been a shot through the door. Quietly, Itachi passed the classes with ease and at the top of his class. (The teachers would have meetings on why Itachi never socialized with the students. Itachi simply replied that they all hated him.) Everything was too easy for Itachi. He hungered for a challenge and that was when he met Shisui. Archery was something offered as an extra curriculum class, and as a future clan leader, Fugaku didn’t enroll his son in it. Itachi still fancied the sport along with shooting but none of his other classmates were as good as Itachi. The day he met Shisui was the first day he had gotten beaten.
Throughout his school days, Itachi took piano classes, archery, art classes, etiquette classes, and attended meetings with his father in order to learn the interworking of the royal family. There was a trophy room specified for the ‘young genius’ in which Itachi never went in to bask in his glory because all in all, it wasn’t achieved. All throughout his school days, Itachi took what he was given because of his ability to take, not to achieve.
And then Itachi was introduced to the secret of the clan. Shisui had shown him a room underneath the tatami mats of the temple. It was then that Itachi finally started to have a mind of his own. (“There. You have to read it, Itachi-kun.”) Up until then, Itachi was being used like a tool that sharpens itself.
And then he met Akatsuki. He was promised power and a chance to excell far grater than the Uchiha clan would ever allow him to do so. Itachi took the offer. From then he started to rebel. It was a passive rebellion. However, when Itachi made a statement, it was fairly noticable.
(Like Shisui's death.)
When Itachi was thirteen, he drowned his elder cousin in the Nakano river and covered it up with a suicide note to buy him more time for the plans he had already stored in his mind. (He was going to single-handedly wipe out the entire-) It wasn't the cops who investigated this manner first. No. It was the Uchiha clan. (Of course, they had to make sure they were clean before the reported it, otherwise the use of a scrapegoat would have to be put into place.) When they had confronted Itachi about this manner, they did not know who they were dealing with. Itachi's sudden outburst cursed the clan for all it’s greedy glory. It was treated as hormones and therefore forgotten a few months later by the entire clan. But the night underneath the temple had changed Itachi. Something in his mind had finally clicked and the gears shifted ever so.
So he killed the clan shortly after.
(His poor little brother.)
